This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Most DhiEd users are children, so we take extra care: a parent or guardian always creates the account and gives consent.
What we collect
- Parent or guardian: name, email address, mobile/WhatsApp number and state (needed for the GST invoice).
- Student: first name, board, class and, if given, school name.
- Learning activity: answers to questions and tests, flashcard progress, scores and time spent.
- Answer sheets: photos or PDFs of papers uploaded for checking, and the marks and feedback we return.
- Payments: order details and payment status from our payment gateway. We do not receive or store card, UPI or bank details.
- Technical data: device and browser type, IP address and cookies needed to keep you logged in and the site secure.
How we use it
- To create the account, give access to the plan bought and show progress to the student and parent.
- To mark uploaded papers and send results.
- To send login details, receipts, GST invoices and service messages by email or WhatsApp.
- To answer questions and give support.
- To keep the service secure and improve it, using combined data that does not identify a student.
We never sell personal data. We do not show advertising to students and do not use students’ data for advertising or behavioural tracking.
Children’s data and parental consent
Anyone under 18 is treated as a child. A parent or guardian must give consent at checkout before a student account is created, and we record when that consent was given. A parent can see their child’s activity and can ask us at any time to correct or delete it.
Who processes data for us
We share data only with service providers who help us run DhiEd, and only as much as each needs:
- Hosting: Hostinger (website and database).
- Payments: PhonePe Payment Gateway (PhonePe Private Limited), which processes card, UPI and net banking payments.
- Email: Zoho (Zoho Mail and ZeptoMail).
- Messages: WhatsApp (Meta), when you choose to message us.
- Paper checking: AI services (currently Anthropic’s Claude) that help mark uploaded answer sheets. Uploads are sent only for marking, and we use settings that do not allow them to be used to train AI models.
- Advertising measurement: on our public marketing pages only, we use the Meta Pixel, and for enquiries and purchases Meta’s Conversions API, to measure how our ads perform. For this, Meta receives the page visited and, for an enquiry or a purchase, the parent’s phone number or email in encrypted (hashed) form. These tools are never loaded on student dashboard pages or for logged-in students.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
How long we keep data
- Account and learning data: while the plan is active and for 12 months after it ends, so a returning student keeps their history, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Uploaded answer sheets: photos and scans are deleted 30 days after the plan’s access ends (for the 2026–27 session, on 30 April 2027). Marks and feedback are kept with the learning data.
- Invoices and payment records: for as long as tax law requires (usually 8 years).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your or your child’s personal data, or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent ends access to the plan. We reply within 30 days, and in any case within the time the law allows.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted staff access and private storage for uploads. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users and the authorities about a data breach as the law requires.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and the checkout working. On public pages we may use measurement cookies as described above.
